Jia Khan was born on February 20, 1988 in New York but raised in Chelsae, London. She is the daughter of Ali Rizvi Khan, a Muslim Indian American, and Rabiya Amin, a Hindi film actress from Agra who is mostly remembered in Tahir Hussain's Dulha Bikta Hai. Jia is the eldest among three daughters, her original name was Nafisa, but she changed the name to Jiah after Angelina Jolie's movie GIA, citing that it was sexier.
She did her studies in English literature and took acting lessons from Lee Starsberg’s Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. She is the most talented girl and has good vocal too and she has taken a formal training in classical opera. It is also said that, she even tried to release her own album when she was 16 years old, and even recorded six pop numbers, but financial crisis became a hindrance and her dreams couldn’t be materialized.
Apart from this, she can rock the dance floor with five different types of dances, namely, lambada, salsa, samba, belly dancing and kathak. She loves to dance and can burn the floor with her rocking performance on all kinds of dance numbers.
The five feet and six inches tall Jiah is also good at sports. She has great athletic skills in sports such as boxing, gymnastics, aerobics, swimming, cycling, tennis, football, rollerblading and martial arts. Jiah is a piano player too. She loves to play piano and get lost in the world of music and fantasy.
Movie Career
Initially, she was approached for Mukesh Bhatt's Tumsa Nahin Dekha (2004), she was just 16 that time, she felt the role was very mature for her, so she backed herself and the role was offered to Dia Mirza. She was not discouraged and waited for the right offer, two years later in 2006, she was approached for Ram Gopal Verma’s movie Nishabd, that became her debut Bollywood movie where she acted opposite to renowned actor Amitabh Bachchan (Big B). She had a wonderful experience working with Big B because she got to learn lot many thing from him. In fact Jiah feels that the entire movie experience has “spoilt” her as she “would now like to work only with the best”.
Through her debut film, she was able to earn a prominent place in peoples’ heart and this husky beauty with long beautiful legs was acclaimed for her courage, beauty, good feature.
Her upcoming projects are A.R. Murugadoss's Ghajini Hindi remake along with Aamir Khan and Asin Thottumkal and Sajid Khan's Housefull, which also stars Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone and Ritesh Deshmukh. Speculations are rife that this hot and sexy babe may be seen in Sanjay Gadhvi’s upcoming film Dhoom 3.
